Program Notes for Clarinet Quartet
The initial development of the Clarinet Quartet was supported by the New York Choreographic Institute, an affiliate of the New York City Ballet, in 2004. The work was created in collaboration with Principle Dancer Albert Evans, and was presented as a pas de deux first through the institute. It was soon picked up for multiple performances with the Washington Ballet and the New York City Ballet.
The work, which lasts about 10 minutes, is mainly built from a four-note motive which is heard throughout the work.
